ARTISANAL COLLABORATION
Olga is one of the eight artisans who brought these sweaters to life.
Our “Cosmos” sweater is our first hand knitted piece created in collaboration with Ecuadorian artisans. This partnership was made possible through a coordinator in Otavalo, who has worked with a group of women weavers from the province of Carchi, generating income for their families for over twenty years.
The design began with a sketch and a technical sheet that guided the initial direction, and evolved organically through suggestions and the unique nature of the handmade weave. The sweater’s body is handwoven from 100% baby alpaca sourced from Peru, while the embroidered suns are crafted in 100% locally sourced sheep’s wool.
The inspiration behind this piece comes from the cosmic duality of the suns found in the Concave ceremonial dish — now set free to orbit across the body. The black color backdrop mirrors the infinite vastness of the universe, where these celestial forms move in harmony, echoing ancient rhythms and timeless space.
For Eterea, it is an honor to celebrate the work of women who keep the ancestral art of hand weaving alive. This piece is a seed—a promise to continue creating in collaboration, crafting garments with time, soul and identity.
Proudly made in Ecuador.
Diego is one of the founders and screen printers at Urku serigraphy in Quito-Ecuador.
Our “Pezoneras” t-shirt was made in collaboration with Urku, an experimental screenprinting studio tucked into the hillside of Itchimbía, Quito.
Since 2017, the studio has specialized in printing on textiles and paper, working entirely by hand. Each t-shirt was individually screenprinted using traditional techniques that allow for slight variations — embracing the beauty of imperfection and the uniqueness of each piece.
This t-shirt is made of 100% organic cotton and plays with the graphic concept of “pezoneras” (nipple covers) superposed at the chest as an ornament that symbolizes power and hierarchy as it did for shamans and members of society in ancient cultures.
This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to slow design, craftsmanship, and meaningful production. The result is a garment that feels both intentional and effortless — where every detail carries the imprint of time, skill, and place.
